Texas Health Steps is a service under Medicaid. Texas Health Steps gives medical and dental check-ups and care to children from birth to age 21 who are enrolled in Medicaid. Texas Health Steps will help you:
Find a doctor or dentist for your child;
Set up a time for your child to see a doctor or dentist;
Get a ride or money for gas to get to a medical or dental appointment, and;
With any questions you may have about the services your child can get.

The State Kids Insurance Program (SKIP)

SKIP mirrors the federal Children?s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). However, if you are a state employee, you are not eligible for CHIP; but your benefits will be similar with the SKIP supplement.
The supplement will pay for premiums for children currently covered by your insurance. If your SKIP-eligible children are not currently on your health plan, they will be added automatically once you are approved for the program.
